Medicaid Eligibility

A lot of people are eligible for Medicaid. Those experiencing poverty, those experiencing poverty who have children, their children are eligible and people living with HIV also are eligible for Medicaid.

Indeed some 50% of people living with AIDS receive Medicaid payments. In general, one must have HIV at the level really close to AIDS or AIDS itself to qualify for Medicaid, but they will most likely qualify because they are considered disabled.

Who are the people eligible for Medicaid? In addition to people with HIV/AIDS, the blind, the disabled, people living on dialysis, people living in nursing homes, disabled children and legal immigrants with any or all of these disabilities are eligible.

A lot of states struggle to cover the high costs of Medicaid. A lot of hospitals and clinics don’t like dealing with those who have Medicaid, so a federal law was passed last November that made states eligible to charge higher premiums and co-pays for people on Medicaid. Primarily the people on Medicaid have either no medical health insurance or the quality is so poor it’s like not having health care.
